Running Clinic for Cross Country & Track Athletes, Coaches and Parents

Join us in Des Moines, Tuesday, August 2nd at 6:00pm to discover the keys to unlocking your running performance for cross country season.

During this clinic Ellen Davis, RD, sports dietitian will speak about the importance of nutrition on your training. Shoe expert, Steve Bobenhouse will cover what running shoes are best for your performance. James Laughlin, PTA will discuss warm up, cool down and recovery strategies to prevent injuries.

    About the Presenters

    The Running clinic will feature James Laughlin, PTA; Ellen Davis, RD, CSSD; and Steve Bobenhouse, shoe expert.

    james laughlin, pta

    James has a BS from Iowa State University in Exercise and Sport Science. He served his tenure as a fitness manager, overseeing two fitness facilities personal training program prior to returning to school to earn his Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Mercy College in Des Moines in 2011.

    His mission is to serve his patients by providing the highest level of service to promote physical well-being. In his free time you will find James running or biking, preferably in Colorado.

     

     

    ellen davis

    Ellen is a Registered Dietitian and Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. She pursued the field of dietetics and received a BS in Human Environmental Sciences after recognizing the connection between healthy lifestyle choices and optimal athletic performance while competing as a track & field athlete at the University of Missouri.

    She now channels her competitive nature into helping others perform their best in work, life, or play, with the use of food as fuel to support a long lifetime of adventures.

    Steve has participated in running programs since Jr. High. He got in the running business after college in 1973, doing shoe development work for Saucony, Brooks, New Balance & Nike starting in 1977. He started Fitness Sports in 1984 and has served on the Governors Council on Physical Fitness & Sports as well as an adjunct professor at the DMU Podiatry School. Steve is a founding member of the Capital Striders Running Club and served as race director for numerous Des Moines area races over the last 35 years.
