Matt Scotton serves as a physical therapist and athletic trainer for Kinetic Edge Physical Therapy, as well as owner and clinic manager for Kinetic Edge – Newton. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist. His mission is to improve the health and quality of life of as many people as possible.
Matt loves to explore nature and human performance. He’s explored his own physical abilities by competing in a ultra-distance endurance bicycle and running races in the Midwest, Colorado, and Alaska since 2009. He’s a 2-time Leadman and a 2-time 70.3-mile Ironman who loves to help people achieve big goals.
Matt earned his Bachelor’s degree from Central College, his Master’s from the University of Iowa, and his Doctorate from Des Moines University. Matt and his wife, Sandy, live in Newton and have two daughters; Kora (a Physical Therapist at Kinetic Edge – Ames) and Hannah (a first grade teacher in Newton).

Kelly Carlson, ATC/L
Kelly Carlson loves working for Kinetic Edge because she loves being part of a team with a common goal of helping others. Kelly administers drug and alcohol screens, and performs pre-work screens.
Kelly graduated from Central College where she earned her degree in general studies with an emphasis in Athletic Training. Kelly previously worked in outpatient orthopaedic rehabilitation as a sport medicine director and as physician extender for orthopaedic spine surgeons.

Emily Ciha, PT, DPT, ATC
Doctor of Physical Therapy & Athletic Trainer
Emily Ciha works as a physical therapist at Kinetic Edge Physical Therapy’s Newton location. It’s her mission to help make a difference in clients’ lives while constantly growing her physical therapy skills.
Emily earned her Bachelor’s degree from Central College in Athletic Training and her graduate degree as a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa. Before attending the University of Iowa, Emily spent time working as an assistant athletic trainer at Central. Since graduating with her doctorate, she’s also spent time working at an outpatient clinic in the Quad Cities.

Allison Garmager, PT, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Allison Garmager serves as a physical therapist for Kinetic Edge Physical Therapy in Newton. Her mission is to assist her clients in achieving their goals and improving their quality of life through positive interactions, encouragement, and optimal physical therapy treatment.
Allison earned her doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Iowa after receiving her bachelor’s in Human Physiology from the University of Iowa. This Iowa City native currently resides in Des Moines.

Jared Gerber, PT, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Jared Gerber works as a physical therapist at Kinetic Edge Physical Therapy’s Newton location. Jared’s mission is to empower people to live a healthy life where they are able to work towards and achieve their goals.
Jared earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa and his Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health from Cedarville University in Ohio.

Katie Gosewisch, OTA/L
Occupational Therapy Assistant
Katie Gosewisch works as an Occupational Therapy Assistant at Kinetic Edge Physical Therapy in Newton. She works primarily with adult hand clients and pediatric clients who struggle with sensorimotor development, sensory preferences, reflex integration, or visual perception. Her mission is to deliver quality occupational therapy and become a strong member of the community.
This Lovilia, Iowa native attended William Penn where she earned her Bachelors in Sociology. She went on to earn her Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant degree from Indian Hills before joining the Kinetic Edge team. Katie currently lives in Sully with her husband Sean.

Kaylie Hills, OTD, OTR/L
Doctor of Occupational Therapy
Kaylie is an occupational therapist with Kinetic Edge. She joined the Kinetic Edge Newton team in July of 2020, where she also completed an internship. She received her Bachelor of Arts with a major in Biology from the University of Northern Iowa, as well as a doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Drake University in Des Moines, IA. Go Panthers and Bulldogs!
Kaylie is originally from Newton, and is happy to be back in the area! She enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching movies, and being outdoors and being active; whether that involves yard games, going on walks, or shooting hoops/playing pickleball with her husband, Dakota.

Jayden Kauk, PTA
Physical Therapist Assistant
Jayden Kauk serves as a physical therapist assistant for Kinetic Edge. Her mission is to connect with each client and positively impact them with exercises that will allow them to reach their goals.
Jayden earned a Bachelors at Hastings College and then attended Clarkson College in order to become a Physical Therapist Assistant. She is originally from Farwell, Nebraska, and currently lives in Johnston. In her free time, she enjoys working out/being active, listening to music, going to concerts, spending time with family & friends and being outside.

Nathan Lucs, PT, DPT, CSCS
Doctor of Physical Therapy & Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
Nathan serves as a physical therapist at the Kinetic Edge clinic in Newton. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist. His mission is to provide compassionate and high quality care, leading people to an improved quality of life and facilitating overall wellness through movement.
Nathan attended the University of Sioux Falls (Go Coo!), earning an exercise science degree. He also graduated from Des Moines University with his doctorate in physical therapy. He is originally from West Des Moines, where he graduated from Waukee High School. In his free time, Nathan enjoys hunting, fishing, biking and lifting weights.

Nicole is a Newton High School graduate. She and her husband, Landon, live in Newton with their son Leo. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crafting, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.

Jenny Jensen serves as a care coordinator for the Newton office. Jenny schedules appointments, greets clients, answers the phones, communicates with our providers, and pitches in wherever else she’s needed! Jenny enjoys helping people so this role is a great fit for her.
Jenny is a Newton High School graduate. She and her husband Jay live in Newton. In her free time, Jenny enjoys serving as the assistant coach for the girls’ swim team. They have two adult sons, Henry and James who is married to Jenny, as well as two grandsons.
